As our nation approaches the 250th anniversary of its independence in 2026, the Veterans Memorial Museum is proud to partner with our local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to honor the legacy of service, sacrifice, and patriotism that began in 1776 and continues to inspire Americans today.
This Fourth of July, we gather not only to celebrate the birth of our nation, but also to recognize the generations of men and women who have defended the freedoms first declared in 1776. The DAR, an organization dedicated to preserving American history, educating future generations, and promoting patriotism, shares our commitment to remembering those who secured our independence and those who have protected it ever since.
Through this special partnership, we are:
• Highlighting Revolutionary War patriots and local ancestors who contributed to America's founding
• Showcasing military artifacts and exhibits that trace our nation's defense from 1776 to the present day
• Offering educational opportunities for families and students to explore the meaning and significance of independence
• Honoring local veterans whose service reflects the enduring spirit of liberty and patriotism
As part of the celebration, the Museum will present a special film screening, From First Shot to Lasting Legacy, which highlights the vital contributions of women whose courage, sacrifice, and determination helped secure and preserve our nation's freedom.
As we look toward the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we reflect on the courage, vision, and sacrifice that shaped our nation. Together, the Veterans Memorial Museum and the DAR reaffirm our shared mission: to preserve history, promote patriotism, and ensure that future generations understand both the cost and the value of freedom.
