The Deason Home will be open for tours on Saturday, May 29 from 2-4 PM.
The Deason Home is the oldest home in Jones County. It was built circa 1845. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a Mississippi Landmark. It has been beautifully restored and is cared for by the ladies of Tallahala Chapter NSDAR. Major Amos McLemore, a guest in the home, was assassinated in one of the bedrooms during the Civil War. The home is filled with history and occasional ghost from the past.
